Saint Anthelme, a secondary school like no others in which children from all around the world, escaping suburban life for some time, learn how to bury the hatchet with school. In this school, Jeanne, a French teacher, takes refuge after the death of her husband, a private pilot, who died in the crash of his plane.
Avoiding happy memories, she left her beloved Dordogne as well as her house, Cantalouette, in order to settle near Paris. In the hustle and bustle of her new lifestyle, in the never ending struggle she leads against rejection, violence, and the fact that teenagers keep putting themselves down. Her mourning yields before the happiness she feels  to see them blossom and improve. She gradually rebuilds herself, even though it remains impossible for her to return to Périgord. But when something awful, the death of a pupil, happens in her school, she forces herself to recapture the strength to go back to her house for the holidays…
