On the Afghan uplands, Arnaud Meyral, a lieutenant in the Special Forces, is about to deliver his last fight. His father will wait for him several weeks in his lonely small valley in Périgord. Before he leaves the hospital where his last battle sent him, the warrior recovers from his physical wounds in his native house with Jean, his father on his side, a widower established in the reassuring litany of everyday life as well as in the natural rythms of his valley.
But Arnaud ails from a deeper wound, that even Marianne, his nurse and long time friend, cannot heal. His uncle George, a man fond of myths and symbols, endeavours to give him the keys to understand what is happening within him.
However, his psychological pain daily becomes more acute. He cannot hold it any longer and decides to wander about Périgord, in an instinctive quest to find a solution. The people he meets will open their doors to the next stage of his journey.
Far away from the Périgord spring, he endures a long and strenuous initiation, at the heart of the mysteries and wonders of nature.
