Un roman bleu-noir, à la fois sentimental et cruel, où se tissent des liens tragiques entre la beauté et la mort. Jonas Burkel, a photographer in his forties, leads a very non-eventful life, with no ambition nor extreme emotion.
His days go on as a mere sequence of habits: a comfortable flat, his Oscar Peterson’s records, his hours of contemplation or of solitary wandering throughout Paris’ streets, and, above all, a number of women, one after the other, along the years, facing his aim.
Like his surroundings, his music or his negatives’ light, women reassure him as well – and for him to feel reassured, they must always be alike, for ever young, tall, dark-haired, fragile, all being exceptionally good-looking. Beautiful like angels, Jonas thinks.
