L'AUTEUR Sonia Pelletier A history and geography
teacher in Alsace, Sonia
Pelletier-Gautier is mostly
inspired by her university
researches in medieval and
regional history to
outline a
very accurate picture of the
Germanic Roman Empire Society
at the awakening of Rhenan
humanism.
Rich with archaeological and
museum experiences, she also
published a number of articles
in newspapers and historical
magazines, taking part, as
well, in collective works,
such as the dictionary of
Alsacian biographies.
On top of that, her thesis was
awarded a prize by the
“Conseil Général du Haut
Rhin”, and published,
warranted by the “Société
Savante” of Eastern Regions.
Mixing up Rhenan forgotten of
famous actors with fiction but
credible characters, she
restores from the past the
fear of inquisition to
stimulate her contemporaries’
thinking about vanity of
certainties at a time that
could be theirs.

Au cœur des querelles religieuses
et politiques de l’Église,
du Royaume de France et du Saint Empire…
Un homme qui se cherche…
1461-1466. The Dominican Pierre Mor is spending the last years of his life in Guebwiller, a small town of the Holy Roman Empire which is to be durably stamped by his life and action. Surrounded with his friend Gaspard Maner and Jean Kreuzer, the preacher, supported by Pierre Wellen the patient provincial prior and Barthelémy d'Andlau the remarkable abbot of Murbach, he is endeavouring to impose the respect of the rule in his convent and wishes to reintroduce nuns in the monastery of the Angels’Door. Beneath the curious and sharp observation of Guebwuller inhabitants, Pierre finds himself in between the conflicts raging between the observers, who want to reform the Church from inside, and the conventuals living their religious engagement rather loosely. The convent in Bâle is emblematic of the situation and the creation by the bishop of a university in the city will enable him to strengthen his influence. In this University, Gaspard teaches theology. Highly respected by the provincial prior, he is promised to a brilliant future. Besides, he is the link between Pierre Mor and his hierarchy. However his past keeps haunting Pierre. Even though living far away from the French kingdom, he remains informed of investigations about Etienne's death in Paris through his friend, Mathieu Muller who carries on trying to understand how a student might have lost his life in such disconcerting circumstances twenty years earlier in the a jail of the Châtelet. Will the truth about that death come to light some day ? This is the last volume of the novelized trilogy dedicated to Pierre Mor’s life.
