L'AUTEUR

Jacques Grieu

An engineer by training, Jacques Grieu, a Norman from Le Havre, is an arts amateur. He always wrote narratives and poems, on his pupil's exercise books, on paper tablecloths in restaurants or articles in magazines. It was already the case at 16, when he was a resident scholar in the Chamonix valley. Then later, when he was a mountain infantryman. But it is offshore, while sailing during numerous regatta throughout Europe, that he wanted to satisfy his competitive spirit. And, more calmly, he cruises between Belle-Ile and the Golfe du Morbihan for the last 50 years. He nevertheless had to wait for retirement to find the time to publish … The father of 3 children and 8 times grandfather, he continues to practice ski with his family. He is also an amateur of golf, chess and painting.

Ce roman plein de sensibilité, hymne à l'adolescence, réhabilite une certaine naïveté. Un bain de fraîcheur et d’amour dans les plus beaux paysages de la mer et de la montagne.

At the age of 14, Jean Legall lives on the coastline of the Golfe du Morbihan, in Brittany. He is given a small drifter and puts it back into working order. During 5 years, he sails through islands with his sister Zaza and the Baron, such a mysterious and charming character.
The accidental death of Zaza will brutally terminate these euphoric cruises. In order to forget this tragic end, Jean and the Baron move to the mountain, towards other landscapes, to forget their sorrow, to satisfy their thirst of space and action.
But life continues in the Golfe du Morbihan where Jean establishes a family, whose members belong also to the more and more present Baron.
Through the events of a well filled life, this friendship between both men strengthens, evoking memories of their magnificent adolescence. An inspiration that continues long after the disappearance of the Baron.
